  1. Made a 70.275Mhz antenna from a 85MHz helical whip by Kathrein.
    With a piece of 75ohm coax stuffed into it.

  2. I'm hearing frustrating bursts of voice on the 70MHz FM calling frequency - lots of flutter, but I'm convinced it's not a /M station. Whoever it is can't hear me. That's the joy & frustration of the 4 metre band!

  3. #amateurradio sort of afternoon.
    Pretty good conditions on 10m / 28MHz with strong North American stations although the QSB was also strong.

    Got into the New York 10m repeater and made a couple of contacts.
    I would have got into the London Ontario repeater but it was hogged by a couple of blokes talking politics for over an hour!
    I resorted to #FT8 and got Kentucky, Sth Carolina & Georgia before getting bored.

    Still nothing heard on my new 4m / 70MHz handheld!

  4. RF section of a Motorola MC Micro for the 66-88MHz band.

    This unit in particular needs some work before being put on the 4m band, due to it not actually working at the moment.

  5. Last year #70MHz #4mband #sporadic stats:

    $ wget dxrobot.gooddx.net/eskiplog70.

    $ cat Good\ DX\ -\ 70\ MHz\ E-skip\ in\ Europe.html | fgrep "ES>" | awk '$3~/([A-Z][A-Z]?|[A-Z][0-9]|[0-9][A-Z])[0-9][A-Z]+/ {if ($NR<3514) print $(NF-1)}' | sort | uniq -c | sort -nr

    Apparently, I should start sending stray CQs to probe conditions
    (initally in FT8) in May.
