When the 12yo is having a rough morning & cannot make herself get out of the car when we pull up to #school, we try our very best to talk it out, and when that doesn't work, we drive away from school & go to a new-to-us used #bookstore & have #coffee & peruse #books for an hour before driving back to school & trying again, this time successfully.
She was 2 1/2 hours late to school.
I'm teaching her that caring for her emotional health is more important than conformity. -
me *formatting book* *yelling at laptop screen*: GAH. why are you not centered?!?
12yo *from across the room*: because I don't meditate

me: well, they are. but the people doing something about it aren't as powerful as the people causing it
her: but don't they get that if the Earth goes to shit, then their businesses go to shit because there's nobody left to buy their shit?!

Elli's favorite days are when 12yo stays home from school. (The district is having kids work from home today because we had a dusting of snow. But they won't close schools for a week to stop the flu in its tracks.... 🙄)
I have never witnessed a cat love a human the way this cat loves this kid. 😊💜💜💜

As I saw somewhere on the intarwebz:
Life sure is LIFING a lot these days.
I've got a lot going on with my own projects, the DAVE*, household, the elderly parents, the husband to whom is like to pay more attention, and the daughter's #6thGraderLife.
But it's only slightly more than I generally handle? So why am I feeling so frazzled & at loose ends & unfocused?
And then I remember, "Oh yeah, it's 12 days 'til Civil War II or no Civil War II."

Yesterday, I read to 11yo the "children's" book CHARLIE THE CHOO-CHOO by #BerylEvans (1942), authorized by #StephenKing.
Tonight, we're watching #StarTrek TNG episode "Emergence."
Data: I believe the Enterprise may be forming an intelligence.
11yo: THE ENTERPRISE IS TURNING INTO CHARLIE THE CHOO-CHOO 😱
I love the way this kid's brain works. 😊💙

Today, 11yo's ensemble head-to-toe is:
pink headband
gray T-shirt printed all over with pink-haired unicorn heads
pink plaid overshirt tied at her waist
long, black leggings printed with stars & swirling pink and blue nebulas
and purple sneakers.I apologize, but I failed to note the nature of the socks.
I adore this kid.
