Si alguna vez has visto la película "Las sandalias del pescador" (1968) de Michael Anderson, puede que al principio te hayas fijado en un pequeño y curioso vehículo que se mueve sin problemas por las estepas nevadas ❄️ y heladas de Rusia.
Este vehículo es el Aktiv Snow-Trac ST4, fabricado en Suecia 🇸🇪 y, en menor medida, en Escocia 🏴 por la empresa Aktiv Snow Trac entre 1957 y 1981. Durante ese periodo se produjeron cerca de 8000 unidades, hasta que la compañía cerró sus puertas en 1993.
Se trata de un vehículo peculiar que se desplaza gracias a dos orugas, impulsado por un motor Volkswagen que originalmente alcanzaba la considerable cifra de 40 caballos de fuerza, potencia que fue aumentando con el paso del tiempo. Su tamaño es similar al de un pequeño coche utilitario, con capacidad para cuatro personas y su carga, y puede usarse tanto en nieve ❄️ como en terrenos áridos 🏜️.
Gracias a su versatilidad, maniobrabilidad y resistencia, llegó a utilizarse incluso como vehículo militar, dotándolo de artillería contracarro.
Así pues, cuando vuelvas a ver (o veas por primera vez) "Las sandalias del pescador" ⛪️ (1968), recuerda al pequeño Aktiv Snow-Trac ST4 y la gran historia que guardan sus dos pequeñas orugas suecas 🇸🇪.

En 1962, Roger Corman adquirió por casi nada los derechos de la película soviética "Nebo Zovyot" 🚀 (1959). Esta joya desconocida del cine espacial Soviético fue transformada en una película de terror espacial más acorde con los gustos estadounidenses.
Para dicha tarea eligió a un joven y prometedor estudiante de cine llamado Francis Ford #Coppola. Aunque fue acreditado como Thomas Colchart, podría decirse que esta película fue su estreno en el mundo profesional y ¿qué mejor que hacerlo de la mano de Roger Corman?
1 - La primera tarea de Francis Ford Coppola fue eliminar las referencias al conflicto entre Estados Unidos 🇺🇸 y la URSS 🇨🇳, inventando un supuesto conflicto entre dos naciones post Guerra Nuclear... El Hemisferio Sur y el Hemisferio Norte. Los del hemisferio Sur son los buenos.
2 - Puso todo su empeño en eliminar toda referencia a la URSS en los letreros escritos en Cirílico y alguna que otra Estrella Roja 🟥. Las naves soviéticas se convirtieron por arte de magia en naves de la NASA. Aunque el trabajo arduo y alguna estrellita roja se escapó al borrado.
3 - Dobló al Inglés la película, modificando algunos diálogos para adaptarlos a la nueva trama y a la "sensibilidad" estadounidense.
4 - Los nombres rusos del reparto original fueron modificados por otros nombres totalmente inventados usando la inicial del nombre y la inicial del apellido. Así Larysa Borysenko se transformó en Linda Barrett y Taisiya Litvinenko en Thomas Littleton entre otros.
5 - La nueva trama añadía dos monstruos con los que los astronautas tienen que lidiar. Uno muy semejante a los genitales femeninos ♀️ y otro a los genitales masculinos ♂️... No se comieron mucho la cabeza.
6 - Corman pensó que el público estadounidense no estaba preparado para una película de 77 minutos, así pues decidió acortarla 13 minutos en el montaje final dejando un metraje inconexo de monstruos, doblajes malos, y tramas absurdas.
