The knob of the dimmer in the kitchen was broken. I designed a simple knob in #Solvespace as a replacement. The color is not exactly matching but I had this filament lying around.

I have finally found a #3dcad tool that works for me. #openscad lets me just write code for objects and (duh), that works for my brain. No fiddly mouse operations, and having to rebuild things from scratch. Just declarative objects. It's lightweight, you can check stuff into git. As long as you can visualize object transformations reasonably, it has been simple (so far) to build quite complex objects. The parametric features were very helpful for this object. I wasn't sure how many grooves I wanted, but you can just change a for loop till it looks right. Openscad does the visualization, I'm editing in vi. It's light weight..

I designed this comb guide for my Philips One Blade. The original ones break easily and are expensive. I also made the #Solvespace source file available e.g for them who want change the height of the comb.

FreeCAD 1.0 is out, and the binaries for various platforms are now available for download too (yesterday they released the source, but today binaries are available too). After 22 years of development, it's now a very robust app that competes head to head with heavyweights in the CAD space.

Today, I gave a #workshop for beginners in #3dcad using #FreeCAD. As usual, I forgot to take pictures. Too bad that I'm the one who's telling everybody to take pictures during their workshops... 🙄

The age of the participants ranged from 12 years old and serious retiree. Great mix and a lot of fun. Thank you!

Apparently I can’t go even a day without designing *something* lately, so here’s a set of minimalist modern coasters I’m working on. They’re a little bit more complicated than just a cylinder… but not a lot more complicated. #3dPrinting #3dCAD

For most of my CAD I use OpenSCAD, a coding-language–based modeling environment that appeals to my programmer/mathematician brain. But when it gets tedious figuring out how to express visual shapes in code, I turn to SolveSpace instead.

What do you mean by creating fillets of a ShapeBinder? A ShapeBinder represents another geometrical form of some kind and is nothing you can change like that accordingly.
