Had no luck in the Microwave Contest on Sunday, so went out with a mate today to test my 24GHz gear to make sure it still works. 59+10dB both ways over a rain soaked 31km path between Stanage Edge and the Cat & Fiddle. #PeakDistrict #MicrowaveRadio #uWaves #Microwaves #AmateurRadio #AmateurFunk #24GHz

Is an isolator overkill when measuring a Gunn diode oscillators output power?
Not even the frequency, just power. -
Made my first proper contact on 24GHz this afternoon! 108KM through fog! I gave him 57 and he gave me 59 on SSB :) #MicrowaveRadio #AmateurRadio #AmateurFunk #HamRadio #HamR #RadioContest #uWave #24GHz

The wifi router in your house uses the 2.4Ghz spectrum which is in the upper range of the now defunct UHF spectrum. Wouldn't it be neat if you could tune an old CRT TV to the same channel as your wifi and see patterns?
Unfortunately, UHF channels were much wider so the TV wouldn't be able to pick up much, not that it would know how to demodulate it anyway.
Kinda funny to think we have tiny little TV stations in our houses. 📺

YES!
I did find the right connector.
Sure, it was in the third bag of miscellaneous MIL connectors .
But I found it.
A slight step forwards on the #24GHz #Flexihopper transverter project.

Well, we didn't win any distance awards, but me and G1DFL made a #24GHz contact today at the Reading Rally... It was actually crap when we pointed the dishes at each other (I'm guessing the signals overloaded the transverters), but when we bounced the signals off the car, or off the shipping containers over the hedge, we each sounded great! #CarScatter #mmWave #Microwave #AmateurRadio #AmateurFunk #HamRadio #HamR

So very used #OCXO oscillator cans from ebay.
They ware cheap and most of them should work.
Plenty of projects of mine and from friends will have nice, stable and cheap reference clocks.
And if there are duds, I get to pull one to bits or possibly learn how to repair OCXO's.I plan to use one as a refclock for a homebrew signal generator, when I repair and re-home it to a better case.
And for a #24GHz project. -
I added an HLK-LD2410C motion sensor to a Sonoff S26 smart WiFi plug running #ESPHome. The #LD2410 uses #24GHz millimeter waves and can be invisibly mounted inside the enclosure. https://lieven.kks36.be/2023/06/11/adding-ld2410-motion-sensor-to-sonoff-s26-smart-plug-running-esphome/
