I-An has already said that Hui-Ju was his first love. I think QM had a one-sided love for I-An, but the family ambition to be queen meant the end of that, as well as her dreams of playing piano professionally.
Folks have complained that the storyline wasn't fleshed out, but I preferred having it shown in quick flashbacks. More time to focus on our lovely leads.
