@SirMathieu This is probably not the explanation you want, but we leave our elections to the states.

Feel free to correct me anyone, but I believe i's up to state legislatures to elect the president. Every state has decided to leave it up to voters to determine who each state votes for.

Philosophically, I don't want "federal oversight" of elections. By its very nature, I trust the anarchy of the populist over the tyranny of centralized decision makers. #20thcenturyhistory
