Normally I’d blog my year in review, but I think I’m going to keep it short and simple and just post it here.

Collectively, we can all agree, 2025 was the worst. The things the regime has done to the country I live in has been appalling. But I’ve been fighting. I’ve been donating to the opposition.

Personally, 2025 was one of my better years. Our family transportation business got up and running, we did our first few trips. NodeSpace had one of its best years ever. I’ve been busier than ever. I’ve grown professionally and personally.

Going into 2026, the year’s theme (or rather motto in this case) is my personal modus operandi: technology is not a panacea. It means that technology is not a cure-all for every problem. This extends to AI. While I don’t hate AI, I do hate that it has made people think that it is a hammer so all they see are nails. I try to use it responsibly, filling in personal knowledge gaps. Like I cannot design websites to save my life but AI is great for that. I can’t tell if these numbers on a P&L are good or not. It’s not a friend. It’s not your friend. I hope that AI companies are forced to put in safeguards to protect kids. I hope parents actually start talking to their kids. I hope it replaces CEOs, not actual employees.

My goals for the next year are to get healthier, which I know everyone says, but I really need to. I’m going to cut back on alcohol (which means my favorite craft beers) because I’m sure most of my weight gain over the last several years has been my love for IPAs. I’m going to try to get back into cycling, which has really sucked because of the extra weight I put on.

I’m also going to start working on leaving tech and putting more focus into the family transportation business. I love tech, but I love driving buses more. It’s weird as an introvert but I strangely do well on the bus. This isn’t going to be a this year thing, but it’s getting started.

I’m also going to be “downsizing” my tech life. I already got started by getting an iPod. Yep, an iPod! I’m going to stop streaming and go back to owning my music.

So while collectively 2025 sucked, I’m hoping 2026 will get better for us all.

- learn some more linguistics
- bond even more with my friends
