#2024reads — Public Fediverse posts

Live and recent posts from across the Fediverse tagged #2024reads, aggregated by home.social.

  1. I made it to 31 books this year, with many in-progress (isn't that always the way?) A fun year for reading, including all of NYC in the Akashic Noir series, a lot of 33 1/3 (as usual).

If pressed to pick a single favorite, it would have to go to David Mitchell's Utopia Avenue, one of the best music-related works of fiction I've ever read. Everything listed here in alphabetical order by author.

What did you all read this year?

  2. Mal was Älteres, in dt.

  7. 4. I'm a True Villainess 1 by Flowing Honey

Manta recently (like a couple days ago) added the original webnovels for their popular series and I, of course, bought the entire series for this one because it's my fav from the villainess subgenre because the plotting is both classic and bonkers lol and I love the main couple.

As expected, the webnovel has details that were glossed over or just skipped in the webtoon: like the fact that Seria goes to Rouche's territory annually to inspect the lake & glacier and that he has an informal ritual of welcoming her over a cup of tea. That little detail casts their relationship in a new light. The history! The fact that he's always low-key liked her despite her atrocious reputation and is high-key pissed that she "changed" due to falling in love with Callus!

I'm excited to read the rest of the series (5 more volumes + bonus stories).

  10. More for #bookstodon and #2024reads!
I read the short story "Rise" by Ben Counter.

I really didn't have fun with his "Battle for the Abyss"-novel, but this short story is much less formulaic and full of clichées, instead it comes with wonderfully horrible characters and a nice twist.

A fast, rather #Warhammer newbie-friendly read for connoisseurs of baaaad not-elves!

It gave me a mighty need to draw a #Drukhari Scourge!
