  1. #House #GOP blocks funds to LGBTQ groups, using #budget for cultural fights
#Republicans denied #funding to three Democratic efforts to assist local groups focused on #LGBTQ #housing & other issues, part of a sprawling #conservative effort to use the #2024budget to advance their social agenda

  2. #mapoli Senate has now completed its debate on the #2024budget and after a few procedural formalities, it will go to a conference committee with the House. Eventually there will be a conference report that will probably pass unanimously. I haven't done a line-by-line difference yet (we don't have the final enrolled Senate text) so I don't know how long it's likely to take but it doesn't seem like a lot of contentious issues made it into the budget this year.

  3. Looks like there are 1,049 Senate amendments to the #mapoli #2024budget. Because of Eurovision I wasn't paying as much attention as I should to where the process was after the House passed its budget bill. Transportation amendments are numbered 826 to 854; thread below. malegislature.gov/Budget/FY202

  4. And a final update on the #mapoli House #2024budget: quoting from the web site: "Passed to be engrossed - 156 YEAS to 0 NAYS (See YEA and NAY in Supplement, No. 25)". So now it's on to the Senate (or will be after some formalities in the clerks' offices).

  5. Consolidated amendment E as adopted tonight clarifies that the $70m is for RTAs rather than just "transit improvements". #mapoli #2024budget

  6. #mapoli #2024budget Update: this evening the House voted to approve amendment 788 after all of its contents were deleted by the "leadership", so it goes on the records as "consolidated in amendment E and adopted" even though consolidated amendment E does not include a single word of the text. Many but not all of the transportation earmarks were actually included in the consolidated amendment.

  7. Going to post a summary of transportation-related amendments to the #MApoli #2024budget shortly, but one non-transpo item I thought worth noting: amendment 1237 (Ryan of Boston) would provide $5 million for an industrial-scale water-water heat pump to replace the #Kendall #cogeneration plant on Mem Drive with a steam-only facility. (The actual cost would likely be much more but presumably borne by current district heating customers.)
