i can't remember if it was that same night or a few days later but we went from #HurricaneSandy to #2012NYCBlackout in what felt like a heartbeat. so for however long that was, i had to get up the kids, give them breakfast and walk down 12 flights of stairs to then take a bus somewhere out of downtown Manhattan until before nightfall whilst looking for supplies we could shelp 12 flights of stairs. we became the go to folks for supplies, even phone calls cuz i still had a landline
