  1. Working on transcribing the #1921CensusScotland for my #OnePlaceStudy in #Orkney. Struck by the number of people 1) employed at the Naval Base at Lyness and 2) I knew or knew of.

  2. Just finished some work that went to Donegal (thanks #1921CensusScotland for the birthplace) and want to highlight what a useful site Irish Townlands is. #Ireland #Genealogy townlands.ie/

  3. Can’t find someone in the #1921CensusScotland? If you have a good idea where they could/should be, search just on that place, with no name. Then sort the list either by surname or by reference (the latter will arrange people by page). Better for rural areas than larger towns. Will show up mistranscriptions eg (my #OnePlaceStudy) Vitch for Ritch, Watten for Watters & Marwich for Marwick. #Genealogy #Scotland @geneadons

  4. Looking only at grandparents and great grandparents in #1921Census so far but others on same pages eg Admiralty Dockyard workers in my #OnePlaceStudy in #Orkney. Wonder what people born in #Poplar #London made of #Lyness Orkney. #OnePlaceWednesday #1921CensusScotland

  6. OK, I gave in and am searching the #1921CensusScotland. Two images so far, some unexpected stuff. No speed problems but searches not perfect. Eg grandfather John G Ross - search for John G* Ross returns nothing (exactly as @ScottishGENES noted) found as John Ross. in Walls #Orkney Also the image names: "ScotlandsPeople_imagenameraw"is a useless substitute for the previous version which had date and the NRS ref. Sarah was actually John's great-aunt-in-law! #AlwaysCheck

  7. It's #OnePlaceWednesday! We look forward to your midweek #OnePlaceStudy updates, questions, news, suggestions and chat.

It is of course also #1921CensusScotland Day! Find out what to expect from the #1921Census of #Scotland in this blog post from @oldscotbooks: oldscottish.com/blog/what-to-e.

If any of you search the census for people in your #OnePlaceStudies, let us know how you get on!
