🇮🇸 Katla1899: a story of European migrants on a boat to the US. That's why there's so many languages and people in the main cast (20 characters!) The screenwriters (Jantje Friese, Baran bo Odar) also wrote "Dark"
Katla is also quite dark. People who reappear are covered in ash. They confront their loved ones, but also other versions of themselves.
What's your choice?

Quarter finals of #EuropeanSeries are finished!
KATLA goes through, beating my personal favourite in this race (The 7 Lives of Lea).
And 1899 goes through, which is not a surprise because it has been one of the greatest hits this year.
Let's keep on playing. Tomorrow, the semi-finals.

Both last 1 season. In "The Girls", it's the natural ending of the story. But 1899 ends in a cliffhanger with no news of season 2 despite the requests.
"The Girls" is a Spanish story, takes place mostly by the sea, in holidays. While 1899 takes place IN the sea, and many languages are spoken, up to 10!

Just finished 1899. Holding judgements yet.. except the map.
In the first episode, we are given co-ordinates for the Promethius and shown a map (#Nfld makes an appearance!), The Kerberos 130nm north of the Promethius, which tracks 7.25 hrs at 18 knots).
Just past the Milne seamounts and south of the Flemish cap. Land is ~500km away, whereas to turn back is ~3350km. So towing the boat back doesn't work out?

Just finished the #1899series (no spoilers ahead) and honestly it's seems more hype than substance.
The more I think about it the less I like it and it should be the opposite with a layered mystery show like this.
The production value is great though. I'm glad to see more European shows feeling like this generation lol

Just finished 1899 on Netflix and also watched the making-off episode! I’m in awe! All of it… the story, acting, technology, sound, …
Tip to watch if you haven’t: Watch the original audio, not the dubbed or „English-dubbed“ version, because it is a European production with all actors speaking in their own language. This is not only very beautiful - some scenes don’t work that well if you don’t know about the different languages causing confusion between characters.

Started watching 1899 on netflix. Intrigued so far. I loved Dark but I expect that I will have to look 1899 up on Reddit at the end, in, as with Dark, some state of confusion... ☺️ #1899Series #Dark
