  1. Oh, the #TuneTuesday theme is #180Degrees asking for songs that take a surprising turn and I was drawing a blank for the longest time and then I was like duh, this song takes like 4 turns.

  2. My take on this week’s #TuneTuesday #180degrees is a song that lulls you into a false sense of security for the first quarter with soft vocals and gently tinkling guitars, before it all abruptly kicks off.

The song is Soma by the #smashingpumpkins. I’ve never really studied the lyrics, just wailed along with melancholy angst as Billy cries ‘I’m all by myself….as I’ve always felt’.

I don’t even know what a Soma is. Googling now.

  3. Selecting Porcupine Tree for the #TuneTuesday theme #180degrees almost feels like cheating, but anyway, here's Anesthesize.

  4. Hey, hey, hey! It’s #TuneTuesday again! and this time Kitty’s magic sorting tin decided to whiplash us. #180Degrees, songs taking surprising turns.

    Here's an old classic:

  5. Perfect #TuneTuesday theme today to get a good progging:

    #Queen - The Prophet's Song

which should maybe be heard together with the following track on the album, "Love Of My Life".

    #Genesis - Supper's Ready

The latter does about ten 180 degree turns in one 20+ minutes epic track.

I linked to modern stereo remastered versions of both songs, because that also fits the theme in a different sense. Headphones recommended!

  6. Today's #TuneTuesday theme is about songs taking a surprising turn: #180Degrees.

My choice, probably surprising no one at all, is
    #PorcupineTree - Arriving Somewhere

It evolves so subtly that you might not immediately realize, but skip from the intro to the second solo and 🤯

  7. Happy #TuneTuesday! This week's theme is #180Degrees. Songs that make one or more U-turns.

#KPop loves a beat or style switch-up, and it was too hard to pick just one.

    So ..

    From #TomorrowXTogether, Eternally with it's 3 crazy beat/mood switches.

TXT - Eternally (Demon Hunters ver)

And from #NMIXX, because switch-ups are their superpower, Dice which rolls a bunch of vibes into one track like the best sort of whiplash.

  8. After a few years of me dominating the cassette player in the minivan while driving them to school, music lessons, etc., my kids could flawlessly perform 'Fingertips' by They Might Be Giants from memory.
It wasn't just a song; it was a Pavlovian response to the ignition key.

  9. #TuneTuesday this week celebrates #180Degrees, songs that shift radically. I LUV this one.

"What you need to do now is employ the radical dynamic shift.

The, The radical... yes, uh, what, what do you mean by that?

You know. Full band entry, fortissimo, while maintaining consistent apparent volume on the vocal track.

Oh. Oh! Yeah, yeah! That's a great idea! Hey! Thanks a lot. Thanks for your time."

  10. Hmm I wonder if it's just coincidence that my second choice for #TuneTuesday #180degrees also has black in the title ...
