Well, 10 meter SSB was pretty much bleh this weekend, so I just did some digital for giggles. Got a few fun places, but would have loved to have much more SSB.

Not too bad this weekend for a pretty poor 10 meter band. 15 contacts for "Support Your Parks Weekend". I'll take it! Also spent some time finishing up a few bits of my shack this weekend and put up a new grid square map. I'll put up some updated pics at some point!

Today was really pretty good on 10 and 12 meters! Got 22 POTA contacts, all SSB, except one which was FM! That was really neat! It was such a clear communication, I was really amazed! And I got one contact up in Alaska all the way from Pennsylvania!

This weekend was really good for #10m #SSB finally! The band is definitely waking up, and I'm so wanting to take advantage of it! Looking forward to more weekends like this one to get even more #POTA and such! Even managed to get one #SOTA contact too!
On a side note, I found out my radio manages to tune my 10m antenna to #12m at a usable level. Obviously it's not the most efficient like that, but hey, it does work! Managed to get one contact!

This was one crazy weekend for 10m amateur bands! I'm actually having a hard time coming up with things to say about it other than wow! Here's a map of all the contacts I made from Western PA. Yeah, just wow!

Had a very interesting day today running #FT8 on the #6m and #10m bands! #6meters was pretty quiet, but #10meters had some really interesting surprises in store for me! I actually somehow managed to get an exchange with an #Antarctica research station today (DP0GVN)! I honestly thought Antarctica was one of those that I wouldn't ever manage at 100W and a horizontal omni antenna. Gotta mention South Africa too, 'cause that's just a sort of weird hop for #10meter to reach.

Have had a handful of days on 10 meters lately where the band will be almost completely closed but I get one pretty wild QSO with a new DX entity. This morning before work it was Trinidad and Tobago.
So I got that from grid square FM05 but then failed to make a contact with a CQ from FM06 😂 .

Finally got the $10 ten-meter dipole out of the attic and into the air. I feel like a real ham now lol.
Interesting that I don't immediately notice a strong directionality difference in my FT8 contacts, though the antenna is nearly perpendicular to the attic direction and the 'inverted v angle' [what's that called?] of the radiators has been small in both instances.

I am interested in what empirical evidence can be had to determine how much power is "as much as you need to make the contact."
This FT8 sequence seems to be one of those data points. I tried for a while to get this Chilean station and then someone from my grid square swoops in to get the QSO!
Recently went from a 25W rig to a 5W rig. Fewer QSOs and more incomplete exchanges, though I know the bands have been rough.

Welp, tried to activate a park down in #pittsburgh this afternoon. Park US-0621, but 10m was not kind, and I think the park is in a dead zone. We didn't manage to get any contacts, even park to park. But hey, it was nice out, we had a good time learning from the attempt, and spending time with friends!
Ha, really need to get an FT-891 at some point so we can work #20m and #40m too when the bands aren't being friendly.

Had a 10m FT8 signal heard last Sunday (no QSO) with DPØGVN, the club station at the German Antarctic Research Station "Neumayer III" in Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica: https://www.qrz.com/db/DP0GVN
I want to keep chasing that QSL, especially after learning that Neumayer III’s “land” will eventually fall into the ocean. Gotta catch them before then! https://www.awi.de/en/fleet-stations/stations/neumayer-station-iii.html

First truly international QSO!
SSB mobile from Hanging Rock State Park in NC to PV8AL in Brazil with about $215 worth of gear.

Just had a #QSO with XE1UQZ - Victor in Mexico from Olney, IL on 28.450 MHz USB. His latest QSO was with a ham in Los Angeles. #10meters #QSOs #KE0FFTqsos #10m

The only global option for the "lowest" class of USA hams is to work 10 meter SSB between 28.3 and 28.5 MHz. Is there a crosswalk band chart that shows what frequencies each country's license levels are allowed to work? Many false positives with those search terms!
