You can use Irish socially, in employment, in education & entertainment. Irish is a skill & a cultural asset. I encourage everyone who is curious to take that step & engage with Irish. It will be a journey of personal, linguistic & cultural discovery!

One of the great things about learning Irish is discovering new terms from the dialects. Some of the terms I've learned from Ulster Irish:
bomaite - minute
achan - every
múscail - wake
furasta - easy
fadúda - about
cad chuige - why?
falsa - lazy -
To a Swedish person, the function of diacritics is obvious:
å is not a
ä is not a
ö is not o
So I get the importance of fadas in #irish, and the "tutors" in Irish out there, Darach O'Séaghdha springs to mind, are helpful by pointing out that
Éire is not eire
cáca is not cacaStill it's difficult to remember, and to fully understand the effect on pronunciation.
Here's another nice pair of words, learnt from yesterday's #Seafóid game:

olann - wool -

It would give you text to read with audio. Record the words you know so new ones are shown in a different colour. Give you a dictionary look up for those new words.
