I think they lost their way in regards to what "simple" means ...

With "simple", this is what I would expect: extensions.gnome.org/extension

  2. I am a long-term #KDEPIM user and recently read that due to progress in #SQLite’s performance #Akonadi is now defaulting to that DB on a fresh install.

A few days ago I took the chance and ran `akonadi-db-migrator --newengine sqlite` and it was both painless and I definitely see both lower resource consumption and the PIM suite seems much snappier too!

  3. @ervin, I see you’ve been at #Akademy and held a #KDEPIM BoF.

There was a topic on how to gather more info from users.

As an avid user of #KMail, #KOrganizer and #Zanshin, I have (quite) some feedback and bug reports to provide. But whenever I try to, it seems to end up in the void.

I think a first step would be concentrate on the number of communication channels that devs can actually manage. For both their sanity and the users’.

  4. #Zanshin (残心) in #Zen and #Japanese #MartialArts denotes a state of sustained, relaxed awareness before, during, and after action. Unlike episodic #mindfulness, zanshin emphasizes continuity and integration, reflecting Buddhist teachings on undivided attention and processual reality.

Take a look at #Keepassium or its brethren and own your data again. Easy to migrate #1Password to *passium*, too. I converted when they switched to a subscription-only model.

  6. My iPhone 14 Pro has been rebooting itself randomly for a few weeks now. Yesterday it rebooted repeatedly. And this morning it dropped into the restore screen.

After two support chats, and a 250 mile round trip drive to the nearest Apple Store I have a new iPhone 15 Pro and a 14 Pro sized paperweight.

  15. The opening long take of Yojimbo (two and a half minutes) may be my favourtie martial arts in cinema. Kamae, posture, zanshin - whatever you call it, it's clearly safer to snort arsenic than mess with Sanjuro.

  19. It’s been such an honour to have been the designer of the European Kendo Championship 2025. The final little treat is something I’m truly looking forward to: turning the top three photo submissions into original artwork for Zanshin magazine.

  24. Battôjutsu 抜刀術 is the art of drawing the long or short sword (katana 刀 or wakizashi 脇差) at lightning speed to anticipate an attack. In addition to drawing and defensive techniques, Battô trains above all an eye for detail, constant awareness of one's surroundings (zanshin 残心), the ability to assess people and situations (honseigan 本性眼), and a relaxed, open mind (kyoshin-heiki 虚心平気).

In modern Battôjutsu, techniques (waza 技) are not only practiced as pure forms in empty space, but also applied in light or full contact training (with training weapons and appropriate protective equipment). Obstacles such as walls, pillars, stairs and passers-by are used, and improvised weapons such as thrown tea cups, overturned barrels or a small table thrown up with the foot are sometimes used.
