    @EUCommission

    I doubt that installing a 4 GB proprietary LLM secretly and without any consent can be legal in the #EU - even if Donald wants it to be (!)

    While I advised you on DMS/DSA in "federating systems", I wrote tons of informal complaints and nothing happened but I do not have time to write these things formal cause meanwhile they are Captain Obvious !

    Ich danke sie.

    FYI @paul_irish @rachelandrew
    @Una
    ENOUGH!

  2. @thomasfuchs Try adding 2 filers.
    One #lowercase and one #CamelCase
    If that solves your problem, remove the one you were originally typing and see if it still works. If yes, let me know if #lowercase or #CamelCase is what made it work.

  3. @thomasfuchs

    Pah, the #AtariFalcon030 was absolutely superior!!!

    And #emacs is a decent, but bloated OS, that still lacks a reasonable text editor. They should actually port #NeoVim to it at last.

    ;-)

  4. @thomasfuchs For devices the apps are called "Remote" and "Controller". The remote for cameras is called "oi.share".

    while this is an expected and legitimate rhetorical move, the thing is that we actually know quite a bit about human consciousness - if mostly by exclusion.

    We know it does not make the key mistake of digitizing,
    we know there s no storage medium,
    it does not scrape,
    it does not 'improve' by throwing more MegaWatts at itself, but instead runs just fine on 10-12 W.
    So we do know it is fundamentally different.

  6. @thomasfuchs @laurenshof ATProto is the result of corporate minded techbros, to produce yet another #DTBO #SocialMedia aiming at making people a product.

    Thinking ATProto is anything else is deeply naive.

    I'll yake ActivityPub with its *features* of no algorithm tracking me. Every tracker is a bad idea, every collection should be made a liability, so they stop seeing us as meta data cows.

    Long live the #fediverse, free of #bluesky and ALL corporate walled gardens

  7. @thomasfuchs #Floorp uses a newer Firefox codebase than Waterfox, and I find it to be more stable (on Linux, at least).

  8. @thomasfuchs @Migueldeicaza thanks for the reminder!

    I’ve been told, and personally verified, that Kanopy has what your local library system puts in there. Everyone doesn’t have access to the same material.

    Hoopla, on the other hand provides the same collection to everyone who has access funded by their local library.

  9. @thomasfuchs One day the Compact Floppy Disks / CF-2 will rise again. Mark my words! And as an adapter, hell, you could fit a CF card in there.

    (I bought one of these drives and used it as D2 on a used Apple IIe I grabbed from the local newspaper classifieds back in 1987 or so -- only ever had four blank disks, so it didn't get a lot of use. Was novel, though, especially here in the states.)

    UPDATE: Oh, I wrote a blog post about this a few years back:
