  1. As a paternity leave side quest, I decided to assemble a custom #keyboard (#HHKB layout, clicky switches, blingy RGBs). It was kind of fun!

  4. @roguelazer Ryan Jones (on Twitter) also mentioned #AllTrails (replaced with Apple Maps outdoor navigation feature), Bitmoji, and Grammarly. I don’t really agree with AllTrails and Grammarly being replaced, though – They have a few more features than Apple’s tools, as far as I know. 🤷 (Although Grammarly is really boasting with AI nowadays …)

  5. Spent some time over the holiday break migrating my #neovim config from #vimscript to #lua and updating my plugin-list; wrote up a blogpost at roguelazer.com/blog/2024-01-ed

  6. Just started playing #Hades II. I know obviously it's still Darren Korb and Ashley Barrett but even given that, the Scylla song sounds a lot like Old Friends (the first piece from Transistor). Did Red go to Hades and become a giant clam?

  11. I think people whose expertise is in shoe marketing and turning a $2B company into a $40M company are exactly the right people to run a new business doing datacenter buildouts, funded by the sale of their shoe firm. They can't be worse at it than CoreWeave!

  12. #aetna sent us our denial of coverage notice for COVID vaccines today; $368/shot (so $1840 total out of pocket for the family). Fuck the American medical system and fuck the vaccine-denying lying assholes in the US government.

  13. The new #ElectrifyAmerica EV chargers at the Emeryville IKEA are very nice. 10 units (I think the most of any EA in the East Bay) all 350kW and far from the door so they aren’t blocked with gas cars. Currently me, a Lucid Air, an Ioniq 6, and a a Mustang Mach-E.

  14. Never seen #SFBART say that there's a "1-car" train coming next. Probably just a typo, but maybe I'm about to see a baby yellow line train!

  15. #SFBART being down fucking sucks. This TransBay bus is packed to the gills and it's definitely not safe; there aren't many handholds. In a working transit system they'd be running extra buses or bus bridges but instead the seventh largest rapid transit system in the country is just telling tens of thousands of people to wing it.

  16. This is really the most important thing in the world right now that needs to be the top headline for the SF Chronicle? Fuckin #shitcoin shills.

  17. Ugh I can no longer test anything with #minikube on my VM because Google Container Registry blocked all of TornadoVPS's IPs and minikube is hardcoded to pull from gcr.io. Now I need to find someone at #google to get unbanned.

  18. Update less than 12 hours later: the entire system shut down and isn't responding to #Enphase support's reboot, so I'm now generating 0W. Serves me right for ever being optimistic about anything.

  19. Unrelatedly, it appears that #keybase isn't quite dead yet because now I'm getting a flood of spam... the "Block User" endpoint times out now, though. :-/

  20. The #enphase Enlighten iOS app (for managing solar panels) is unbelievably bad so now of course I wrote my own little #Rust server that talks to the Envoy (system controller) and am writing my own iOS app with widget support.

  21. #AmericanExpress sent me a paper copy of the new T&C and... I'm not sure if I can comply with this

  22. The #NoKings march in #oakland was great but it's absurd that #SFBART is running a regular weekend schedule (and not even 12-car trains). Took about an hour to get home.

  23. Spent all day calling #California #EDD a few dozen times to try to get my family leave processed (note: they haven’t paid me at all yet in the 4.5 weeks since I filed for PFL). Finally got onto the hold line (instead of just getting “the maximum number of callers has been reached, please call back later”) about 25 minutes ago. The hold music plays for 45 seconds, then a message tells me “all representatives are still busy, please continue to hold, expected wait time is 1 minute”. Every minute.

Why can’t I do this online? Why can’t they do a callback instead of a hold line? Why do they have a limit of how many people can be on hold at once, necessitating that I call them dozens of times? Why does it keep telling me the hold time is “1 minute”? California has 1737 FTEs working in this specific department; how many do you think it would take to make this actually work? 3000? 5000?

  28. I really should figure out how to offload that stupid #keybase XLM shitcoin at some point during the current shitcoin pump-and-dump cycle...

  29. So, now that the Trump admin is decriminalizing bribery, does that mean they're going to drop the charges against former #Oakland mayor #ShengThao? Any sign of her flying to Florida to personally kiss Trump's ass the way Eric Adams did?

  30. Just watched a smash and grab in #Rockridge #Oakland. So fast! Light blue Accord with Hertz stickers and no front plate pulls up; guy with bat smashes window, guy jumps in target car and a grabs a backpack; jumps back in Accord; car peels out and makes a left on red to get off of College. Maybe 25 seconds total.
