@renwillis One of Beato’s points is that it is too easy to make music today, thus the result is a mountain of low effort crap. You could make this claim about any technology innovation that makes it easier to accomplish a task. Did 16 track tape machines ruin music in the 1960s? Electronic keyboards in the 1970s? Drum machines and arpeggiators in the 1980s?
My advice to everyone is to never stop discovering new-to-you music so your brain doesn’t become covered in barnacles.

@renwillis I watched it a few weeks ago, & refreshed my memory of it just now. Beato may have a few truly interesting thoughts, but they go more towards proving the thesis “the way music is made, and listeners’ relationship with music, is different in 2024 than it was in 1984”.

The Civil War never ended.
