It is disappointing that #Ubuntu doesn't have patched kernel packages and live patches available yet for #CVE-2026-99999 (PwnEscape). This vulnerability isn't just about VM break-out, it's also a potential kernel exploit for anything with certain capabilities, including many types of containers. This is of particular concern as composed with some of the other vulnerabilities this week (eg, attacks chaining from a PHP compromise to then break-out out of their Docker container).

The movie had it entirely wrong about how Skynet came alive and took over. It really just wormed a PHP vulnerability to install its agents everywhere. (If not today, maybe it will be some other part f the LAMP stack tomorrow.)

Cops have engaged in such a disproportional responses, even against minors, that it has shocked Albania.
They're starting to use ICE-like tactics of having cops who are not badged, not uniformed, and just grabbing people whether they're protesting or not. They're attacking people, including journalists, who film them engaging in illegal acts and disproportionate force.
