I think the formal definition of your lithography process resolving features is when the iPhone text thing recognizes text

Progress!!! Finally!!
This was 1min exposure and 4min development in 50mL 30g/L Na2CO3
Would not have guessed the answer would be such short exposures. Clearly it’s not perfect and there are serious LER, adhesion, and consistency issues. But this is a substantial improvement in resolution. Phew.

Litho is still being weird
From some angles it looks like the best we can do is 400um (the text 1K) but from other angles it looks like we are getting down to 100-250um
I should really try making a silver layer to etch away so I can actually see how well this works but that’s a lot of work lol
This was a 2 minute exposure so maybe I have to go even shorter….

yk what it could just be that the random ebay dry film photoresist sucks even more than most dry film photoresist does
i should get some other one just to compare

if blur is due to the projection system that would be annoying but I could try modifying the optics on the source side
but since the pattern appears as a colour change in the photoresist I'm not sure it is....

did more litho system testing tonight
really seems like the inherent blur of the lcd i'm using is the problem, so the best half-pitch we can hit right now is 250um which is kinda terrible
what's driving me up the wall is that the pattern is transferred to the photoresist, it changes colour, but such small features don't get removed by the developer. Tried switching to an entirely new developer bath halfway through the process and it barely did anything so ig it's not some local saturation issue? probably?
I guess I could try even shorter exposures if I'm careful about development time and maybe pull out the stop bath

oh nice there's dark mode on this thing
don't know how I didn't notice earlier /shrug

did some more tests tho and the resolution is seemingly kinda garbage, I think longer exposures we're a mistake
more testing to do
