You can have a look at this link that was passed to me by André Jaenisch (who is working on forge federation with #Anvil, a forgefed.org client 🚀 ).

For #Anklang we expect to have lots of small updates at the GUI, but the number of components (Tracks, Clips) remains mostly stable throughput the runtime. We do however have some heavy canvas uses (PianoRoll, Spectrogram).

It wasn't too easy to map these requirements onto Vue2/Vue3, which is why we moved to Lit. However for Lit we also have to bundle a Signals library to implement all needed updates and still see missing updates / complains about too many rerenders at the UI.

Since we need Signals anyway, it makes sense to look into SolidJS as a UI solution as well.

So here is a Wiki page with the result of LLMs comparing the two under our requirements:

  3. @hmiron Very similar to mine! I really like #fluxcd but you probably can't go wrong with argo if you choose that path

  4. @hmiron “Don’t build on rented land” is incredibly salient.

Advances that #k8s has made to make the playing field equal, #HashiCorpNomad still makes a compelling argument... right up until you consider the TOS and licensing changes.

  5. @hmiron Yes, I used it back in 2015 or so but then had no access to an own server anymore due to moving and went with #googledrive.

I was thinking of Memories which is an #Nectcloud #App.

But will have a look into #Immich as well.

    Thanks for recommendation.

  10. @hmiron @train Yes, this is all nice and shiny. But when #TrueCharts issues a breaking change, again, as they did twice this year, you find out pretty quickly that it sucks to not know about that stuff to begin with. As there is only very little documentation, and the support is a discord server. (Both are red flags for a something you have to rely on.)
Don't get me wrong: If you want to learn this stuff: Go for TrueCharts 👍. If you (just) need apps right now, don't 🤷‍♂️.

In #Anklang, we have been running into warnings from #Lit like:

    > Element scheduled an update (generally because a property was set) after an update completed, causing a new update to be scheduled.

You should be good unless you see a warning directing you here:

  12. @vwbusguy @hmiron Technically, it’s , which has an S3-compatible API 🤓

  13. This weekend I finally had some time to get my TrueNAS server up and running with Immich on it.

Now my photos are replicated across two devices and the only thing I need now is the remote backup, which it will be another TrueNAS server at the office.

Also, it's the first time I had the guts to delete all my photos from Google Photos.

  14. If you're using OPNSense, you should know there's a high quality blocklist made in the EU called qfeeds.com/ that you can use.

Check this video out, it's really easy to setup: youtube.com/watch?v=RYEizNBE9Y0

  15. I have spent the entire weekend trying to define a frontend pipeline / architecture based on MarkoJS and Vanilla Extract CSS.

Long story short, I have failed badly.

The reason I think is because of tooling complexity and my lack of Vite knowledge.

Feels like Vite is the Kubernetes of frontends and I mean that in both good and bad way.

  16. WTF are Strapi developers doing?
They just launched another venture: fimo.ai, right on the Strapi homepage.

I'm starting to think I made the wrong bet when choosing Strapi as our go to CMS.

  17. I have added a feature request for Strapi admin.
If you use Strapi and find this useful, give it a thumb up so it has more weight.

    Thanks!

  18. Strapi folks are asking for feedback in this Github thread.

I let them know their self-hosted pricing is sh*t. Give a thumb up in there if you agree.

  19. Automated testing update:

I can't believe how productive this setup is. I was able to increase test coverage and also found other minor bugs in my production code.

I may start doing TDD for backend code.

  20. What a productive weekend this was.

On friday I managed to setup automated testing for our backend and this weekend I kept on adding tests for it.

While writing tests I have discovered some subtle bugs which I'm sure I wouldn't have found without the tests.

    This is exciting!

  21. Any Strapi users out here?

If you have something to tell them, here's a feedback form.

  22. @cfdevelop I just closed my Twitter account.

  23. @train As a noob I really benefit from the infrastructure created by on . Once you set it up, any app you deploy has a reverse proxy before it, ssl certs, split DNS for local and public access, and more I haven’t played with.

I certainly wouldn’t know how to achieve this from scratch. Heck, I wouldn’t even have known about these best practices.
