  1. Today's #Junited2024 post: "How not to quit Google" from The Art Of Not Asking Why
    taonaw.com/2024/06/20/how-not-

My comments on this: I understand the desire for privacy and *why* people want to do things like Quit Google, but these things (similarly to people who are able to live "minimalist lives") are done from places of privilege. Also, I see a lot of people say "I choose Apple because they don't sell your data" - sorry but they do...they have their own advertising game which is why they're so invested in helping you opt out of other people's advertising nets.

  2. Today for #Junited2024 I am plugging the blog of Manuel Moreale, famous in the IndyWeb community (and deservedly so) for his People and Blogs newsletter. 5. And lastly today's #Junited2024 entry: From @jedda, "Hidden Battles: The Importance of Choosing Kindness". Ties very nicely to my selection for the 20th (about the temptation of negativity).

  7. Okay, big #Junited2024 update today. Starting with the 22nd:
"The Real Thing: Digital Imposters and Twisted Personas in ‘Perfect Blue’" by @mikegrindle. It comes down to this quote that led me to select it:
"As an example, the study noted that introverts tend to act more extroverted in online spaces (as someone shy in real life, I can attest to this). Similarly, the research shows that extroverts tend to act more reserved and introverted. The same appears to apply to other characteristics. For instance, the comical and fun-loving aim to be more sophisticated and vice-versa." Bonus, a review of a cool-sounding movie from the 90s.

  9. The documentation on #evitaDB evitadb.io/documentation/index is getting bigger and bigger. The more examples we add, the more we're afraid they'll become obsolete or broken. How do we tame this beast of hundreds of examples?

Fortunately, #Java provides a JShell REPL that allows you to interactively enter, and run Java source code. The JShell can also be run automatically and #JUnit5 allows to create dynamic tests. Combining these two features we've created an automated test suite. Blog post coming.

  20. Today fo #Junited2024 I am plugging the blog of Molly White, one of the few “famous people” I follow on social media, mainly because she is smart, relatable and knows her stuff on things I’m curious about. 21. This #Junited2024 entry seems similar to what I added yesterday. "Meta holding me hostage" – The Wallflower Digest

    thewallflowerdigest.co.uk/life

I understand the feeling. I don't feel so "tied up" with Meta, probably because I don't use it very often.

  22. Today for #Junited2024 I am plugging the blog of Parker Molloy, a well know blogger who writes about communication in our hyperconnected world.
