  1. Włocławek ma problem z pustostanami!

Według relacji portalu Dzień Dobry Włocławek wczoraj o godz. 20:00 miało dojść do incydentu, gdzie bezdomny mężczyzna miał rozpalić w piecu kaflowym pustostanu, położonego przy ul. Chmielnej.

  2. A 10-year old and tiny CNN beats the biggest, baddest LLMs at cancer diagnosis:

"You can try the CNN yourself. Remarkably the model is small enough to run entirely in a phone browser using WebGPU"

  3. The magazine founded by abolitionists in 1857 just ran a story about a worker who calls his own situation exploitation, and it published that as a heartwarming hero story with a hat passed around for aristocratic gifts.

  4. i don't know why people follow me, but I'm here to say The Atlantic reporting about PHP needs to be torn to shreds.

Surý spends his entire interview dismantling the reporter's presumptions: he says people could get PHP elsewhere or compile it themselves, of course, credits the PHP project for bringing him into the pre-release group, naturally, names Freexian as ready to take over, because why not, and says the day wasn’t stressful!

Then The Atlantic reporter still tries to gin up "oh no" FUD and hero worship? WTAF. The Atlantic used to be abolitionist, and here it's pumping a slavery model. I wouldn't line my birdcage with what they wrote.

Surý names exploitation and then the article turns him into the deserving servant and invites the public to tip him! Tipping is slavery. I guess I'll write it up, as I cancel my Atlantic subscription.

  5. always the same shit with these Nazis. Palantir is an embarrassment to tech and gov.

"Corbyn slammed the letters from Mosley as intimidation. 'I am in no doubt as to why Palantir is writing these letters to MPs: to intimidate its critics into silence,' he told Novara Media. 'Their tactics of intimidation will not work and they will not shut me up. I will never be deterred from speaking out against Palantir, which should have no place in our public services whatsoever.' Palantir, co-founded by billionaires Alex Karp and Peter Theil, has close ties to the Trump administration."

  6. Me: Stanford was a fraudster who committed genocide.
Him: The guy the school is named after?
    Me: The guy
Him: If that were true the school wouldn't be named after him.
    Me: Right. It shouldn't be.
Him: Can't be true. I can't believe you because nobody would use his name.
Me: What if I told you that people like Trump?
Him: I can't believe you. This can't be true. You aren't believable. If Stanford were so bad, he wouldn't be popular.

  11. You want accountability? Bush made the Trump monster, as I wrote in 2008:

    flyingpenguin.com/the-manipula

"...a vast group of Americans apparently are so unable to process information that they have become highly vulnerable to manipulation (social engineering, foreign influence) in a very, very bad way. And that is probably exactly what Rove wants."

  12. "The Bush name is nearly synonymous with the rise of the Republican Party in Texas... redrew the U.S. House map to enhance their advantage..."

    And then Bush said:

"...'character matters more than party affiliation. Our democracy depends on leaders who respect our institutions, tell the truth, accept accountability, and seek to unite rather than divide.'"

  13. "The first-ever award for artificial intelligence went to the city of Bamberg. Its BaKIM project analyzes drone images, identifies tree species, and is intended to make it possible to spot weakened trees early. Since April 2026, other municipalities have also been able to have their own images analyzed through a web application. The software, models, and training data are freely available, according to the OSBA."

  14. it cost me eur 200 to replace two water pumps, which will now save me at least eur 100 / year, and allow saved energy to go to better use.

and then I found out that these old pumps have been banned since 2015? wat. or should I say watt?!

regulation is the mother of innovation. the new pumps are a wonder of technology. I wish we had even stricter energy conservation laws.

  15. "...technicians meticulously desolder the pricey flagship’s GB202 silicon and GDDR7 memory chips. They then transplant the components into a dual-slot blower design tailored for server use..."

in the early 90s I managed a team of veterans who desoldered chips, and they all were depressed about how the American market didn't want their skills.

  17. as it was just explained to me, if GDPR bans the practice of AI model development, then the violating AI models should be banned.

instead, the models violating copyright and privacy are allowed to do business. this lack of enforcement makes the ban into favoritism for the worst abusers.

  18. just had an interesting discussion about AI lacking a coherent governance model and I kept thinking of this:

"...rather than a 'colonial America,' we should speak of an Indigenous America that was only slowly and unevenly becoming colonial. By 1776, various European colonial powers together claimed nearly all of the continent for themselves, but Indigenous peoples and powers controlled it..."
