As I shaved my head this morning, I reflected, not for the first time, how I wasted hair when I had it and I’m much happier about it now.
(I started clipping before I even knew I was going bald, so it’s not like I particularly missed it…. Although I do wear hats indoors now) -
I’m afraid I don’t remember who recommended this podcast on here, but it’s the most extraordinary and interesting thing I think I’ve ever heard. Do yourself a favour and treat yourself to 60 minutes wandering through mental health, Edinburgh (and Irish) chip shops, Vermeer, the history of brown sauce, how the french band Cortex are the brown sauce of music, cats and door knobs. It’s quite the ride.
(And thank you for the tip, fellow Mastodonian!)

Nottingham Masters Regatta today. 1000m in a quad in windy/choppy conditions at the Regatta lake (it’s always windy there). Same position as last year (6/6), but a vastly better performance and we’ve only been #rowing for 3 years against crews with 10 times that experience. Loads to work on, but we got out of the boat laughing (some club mates in a different race capsized turning round to get onto the start and got brought back in the launch, so things can always be worse!)

Racing as part of a quad at the local regatta today. Not especially looking forward to it. We came last 12 months ago in a high class field (our coach’s medal-garlanded boat came second to last). I expect the same result today, although we have improved enormously. Still, it’s #rowing with my mates and we’ll get out of the boat laughing, whatever happens.

It's the middle of October and I've been bitten to all hell by mosquitos. I, for one, welcome a cold snap.

My cat has discovered that the SkyQ box is warm. There isn’t quite enough room to get comfortable, so she’s about to discover that, when she pushes it off that shelf, the heat goes with it (along with my ability to watch the snooker)

For this #cat, that felted down-filled cushion that she’s not really supposed to be sitting on is *everything*.

My very first Test match was England v Australia at Trent Bridge in 1993. The Ashes were already long gone and England were largely hopeless (Mark Lathwell opened and the bowling attack included Mark Ilott, Peter Such and Martin McCague. Not a golden era)... but I did see Graham Thorpe on debut making a magnificent second innings hundred.
RIP Thorpey. Gone too soon. This one stings.

CW: eye contact
Had a little snooze in front of the football after we got in from rowing, and woke up with the gentlest of purry breaths on my nose.

Another busy day at the office for Zizouchat. It’s a hard knock life.
