I discovered Reviewbrah on YouTube a month ago. Not sure why it took the algorithm so long to connect us given that I love non sequitur / absurdist humor.
“My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.”

A fun trick I learned recently is Scooter Software's Beyond Compare can be used to extract many archive files such as RAR and 7z without requiring additional software to be installed.
Beyond Compare can treat an archive file as a directory, and it allows copying files from one directory to another. Voila.

Yes, I know Khashoggi was not a US citizen. That's a point that only the churlish will quibble on. He was a US resident and a reporter for the Washington Post. He courageously risked, and ultimately sacrificed, his life to report on the abuses of his home country. His murder was not just an attack on him, but on the very principles of truth and freedom that bind us all.

I don't think I've publicly commented on #SaudiArabia before, so I will now.
Saudi Arabis is a country that the USA should seriously reconsider as an ally. Quite frankly I believe the only reason they are an ally at all is because SA controls a massive flow of oil to western nations. Yet another reason to do everything we can to end our dependence on foreign oil, aka end our dependence on oil.
MBS murdered an American (Khashoggi) to silence his speech.

One thing I've taken note of is people are outraged about news items that I don't react to at all.
Both consciously and unconsciously I turn away from some news items because quite frankly, I experience both outrage and empathy fatigue. To protect my mental well-being, there's some topics I turn away from.
Part of this is my natural tendency to prefer to become very informed about a topic before I weigh in.

I'm late to this, but I had a conversation last night that I'd like to recap here.
I'm not NYC resident. I'm not knowledgeable of the issues NYC faces. Thus, I didn't endorse anyone for NYC mayor.
I will comment on #Cuomo. Resigned in disgrace in 2021 — that should've ended his political career. Lost the Dem primary in June — that should've ended his mayoral run. What was he thinking, other than "I'll split the vote and help the Republican win"?

This is the blame shifting that's going to go down in a couple years when teams don't come up with the AI savings management promised (without any real plan on how they'd achieve those savings).
"We (management) didn't overpromise. Agentic AI didn't fail. It's the individual contributor's fault for not doing it right.'
-
I was in a meeting this week where it was stated the management belief is anyone complaining about the low quality of agentic AI responses is because that person is bad at prompting, and they should've spent more time using AI sooner.
Their example was a puzzle (how many trials to find irregular ball of 20, when 19 are same weight). Sure, AI can solve puzzles that lots of people have written about. What about fix a bug in our proprietary, 5,000-line program?
-
I’m in a work training for a agentic AI we will soon have access to. One use case that was suggested is researching and summarizing HR policy on a topic or for a question.
Oof. I expect it won’t be long before I read a news article where someone brings a wrongful termination suit based on either end of such a AI query.

Rob Sand's statement on DSM Superintendent Ian Roberts have aged remarkably well. It was disappointing to see his call for patience get flamed on Twitter. I hope those folks have the good sense and shame to retract their comments.

Three of the people I work with had their positions eliminated today.
Obviously very bad for the displaced workers, and I feel very bad for them.
It’s been very upsetting to me and has killed most of my productivity for the day. Which is unfortunate because I have a progress status meeting tomorrow morning, and feel behind as I had two days on PTO last week.

Had a call today where it was announced a co-worker passed away after a private illness. The host said they "were always the first one in [to the office] and the last one out", and not a lot else.
I didn't know this person or their situation, so I'm not commenting directly on this.
However, it does remind me of the idea: a year after you pass, the only people who will remember that you worked long hours are your family.
RIP, co-worker.
