  1. @tshirtman I hope you'll find it and it reminds me I should ask my local #Jumbo to scale up this part of their assortment.

  2. @tshirtman #Beeware compiles "Hello World", #Flet compiles "Hello World" in seconds". 😉

  3. @tshirtman @mloxton @tarheel @inthehands

agreed. in this regard, #socialMedia can be a force multiplier for good as well as what it is now: a force multiplier for #bigotry and #plutocracy

but that makes our communities a target

so we need something like #mastodon where we can squash the #trolls without the "fReEzEpEaCh!" #bigoted morons and #centralized #corporate social media indifference or tacit support for #ignorance and #hate

we need the #fediverse to grow

  4. @tshirtman @BlackAzizAnansi

    Absolutely. Thanks.

What part of your #Fedi data and presence will be @ risk when the #MetaHordes come galloping through #ActivityPub from #Threads?

Like his press release.--But while I do not dispute the technological facts #Eugen explains, and will not even say that some of his conclusions are erroneous, this text simply overlooks the cultural dimension, qualitatively and quantitatively.

    We are presently...

  5. @tshirtman @diazona @jackwilliambell

Fair enough. I resisted pipenv for quite a while, switched to it for a year or two, and have moved on to poetry with no regrets.

I only use it for projects, though. Personal or work. If I just want to install a Python tool for local use, `pipx` is still just the ticket for it.

    #pipx #pipenv #poetry

  6. @tshirtman #Kivy is amazing! I hope I can do something with Kivy at some point.

For very small stuff I'm using #PySimpleGUI :)

  9. Surprising no one the security situation with robots is bad.

But somehow it manages to surprise in how bad it is, first, with the robots being hackable by injecting a shell command into a password field, over bluetooth?? And secondly, more worryingly (yes), by them being apparently very much spyware going to serious extents to avoid being detected as such.

  10. Big #ant Alert.

    @futurebird

Saw this quite big ant just now, had a hard time getting a good picture, but here are some kind of decent ones?

With a few more on inaturalist.org/observations/3

INaturalist auto detection seems pretty confused about the exact type, but i guess much better images would be needed.

She seemed to be struggling with going up vertical surfaces, one leg seemed weak. Gave it an escape to some ground.

  11. ok, i guess that was bound to happen, going to a company christmas party was not wisest idea in hindsight, #whamhalla here i come, at least, i think it's the original, could be a dance mix, checking the original would off me anyway, so i might as well accept defeat.

  12. 🥹 Got the email today from #PartnersInHealth announcing cutting the ribbon to the new Maternal Center of Excellence, that will open in a few months and deliver the best standard of care for maternal health in Sierra Leone, who used to be the most dangerous place for women to give birth into.

I got some socks, but i mostly supported directly through direct donations #pih and seeing it happen is the best thing ever.

  13. @maphew My recomendation for that is #kivy but i'm heavily biased, having been involved with it for years, and contributing to it a lot. However, i've seen many users report a lot of joy using it.

Some people make the mistake of trying to avoid Kvlang, the yaml-like markup language that it uses to make declarative UIs, it's a mistake, because it's quite easy to learn and make everything a lot easier. Keep Python for the core logic, Kvlang for the UI on top of it.

Feel free to ping me about it.

  18. @Nigel_Purchase "#PrecisionFermentation dairy proteins are already in the market (cheese, chocolate, ice cream etc). This is not in the future. This is now."

uh, where can i get such cheese, provided it's entirely made of these proteins, and is thus vegan?

  19. @ovid let us know if you unexpectedly need it today… the day might not be done being weird.
