And it works! Perfectly! Keyboard, joystick and all! Self tests passed 100 per cent. The lightguns aim is crap, but that was known. Built-in Missile Command is absolutely great! #atarixegs #atari8bit

Usually the UHF SatCom satellites has Brazilian truckers and Russian national anthem, but it has sometimes surprises. Today there was medical consultation, in English, over two-way radio. I only heard the other side.
There was even on-hold music! 😁
Received with #airspy Mini and discone.

What the author actually does, puts all the weight of the urgently needed multi-system change on the individual. "active hope" solves it yay.
No mate, i don't hate my species. I'm just aware i am part of the planets problem.
His argument "Yet that doesn’t mean humanity is the cancer of the planet." because humanity is part of nature. Cancer IS a part of nature too, remember? Irregular, out of control, fatal 🤨
Sounds familiar?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsFpm4yAoMQ

@tompearce49 All the more reason for getting on with independence. We can't let englandshire's problems drag us down. Much to be achieved. Let's go.

Meta-Harness: End-to-End Optimization of Model Harnesses
Lee, Yoonho, Roshen Nair, Qizheng Zhang, Kangwook Lee, Omar Khattab, and Chelsea Finn
Harnesses for Agentic AI include perception and memory devices that allow an LLM to externalize and preserve state. This work describes iterating over a set of harnesses and finding better ones. Results are impressive.

@tompearce49 Chapeau! There are some great hgv drivers out there. I think the #log #lorry drivers are the best - they get a lot of flack, but the best of them can do as you describe, but in the forest, on narrow, steep, tight geometry, very few passing places, unmade up roads, often riddled with potholes. No roadsigns and often only poor mapping. Tramping (overnighting in the cab) is often required. It's amazing our #timber gets to the mills sometimes!

A decade later, the brutal Shah visiting Germany brought protestors to the streets. They were attacked by violent police and Shah security. Left wingers reacted and from them the terrorist #RoteArmeeFraktion ( #BaaderMeinhoff gang) was founded, supported by a group of "sympathisers" (die #Sympathisanten).
The current violent behavior of right wing governments will eventually lead to one or more terrorist left wing groups similar to #RAF. #PalestineAction may be a sign.

I have a paper copy of #Britannica and I'm keeping it.
I hope there are archival copies of Wikipedia circulating, and offline. -
Trump’s not the only one, he's far too stupid to gain power without a lot of help.

Recursive Language Models
Alex L. Zhang, Tim Kraska, Omar Khattab
An excellent paper describing how to extend prompt context with recursion. Simple experiments. Clear explanations. This one makes you think. Are we moving towards actual Hofstaderian strange loops?

From Kepler to Newton: Inductive Biases Guide Learned World Models in Transformers
Ziming Liu, Sophia Sanborn, Surya Ganguli, Andreas Tolias
Representation matters and is deeply constrained by tokenization. Excellent work, clearly described with real substance.

Position: Model Collapse Does Not Mean What You Think
Rylan Schaeffer, Joshua Kazdan, Alvan Caleb Arulandu, Sanmi Koyejo
We think recursive pollution is a better term than model collapse. Weak terminology leads to misunderstanding of impact. See figure 4. This is a very good paper.

Strong Model Collapse
Elvis Dohmatob, Yunzhen Feng, Arjun Subramonian, Julia Kempe
(NYU and META)Recursive pollution leads to model collapse. This view of strong model collapse describes what happens in the case of recursive data poison.

A Closer Look at Model Collapse: From a Generalization-to-Memorization Perspective
Lianghe Shi, et al
A very nice set of references to work in model collapse. Collapsed model == lookup table (that is, no generalization). Discussion of recursive pollution as causing variance shrinkage or distribution shift.

@tompearce49 I think it is best not to link urgently needed electoral reform to replacing the House of Lords. The Lords have been more reliable at representing the will of the (English and Welsh, at least) people than the elected chamber over the last few years so that change will be tangled in the weeds for years.
We NEED a simple change to a transferable votes system to save British democracy. It's obviously fairer than #FPTP and a very simple change to replace the need for tactical voting.

It is good morning Tom. Well done #TheGreens
If you believed the narrative that was coming from the media - this election was supposed to be close. It wasn't!
People want hope - #Labour isn't giving them that. Maybe they will stop trying to be #Reform (fascists) now.
Oh and you would have to have a heart of stone not to laugh...the #Tories lost their deposit. The Kemi renewal continues!

I'd like to believe all the hype from the #AiAntagonists but to me they all sound like soldiers in a besieged city, cheering the news of the relief columns that never comes.
The article is supremely optimistic, which is fair enough, optimism is needed with one of the key avatars of the #AntiAi movement being sprung using AI himself. The #reversecentaur #asbestosinthewalls guy himself @pluralistic
#AI Blew past the #turingtest so fast, folks were tripping over themselves to bury decades of benchmarking. The previous AI attempts never breached Turing.
Meanwhile, #HLE is climbing up faster than expected, which is the exact opposite of what folks who claim AI is not advancing is.
It seems that the models are capable of Zero-shot learning, reaching accurate results for knowledge not in the training data.
The answer as always is to become politically active and #regulateAI

Less is More: Recursive Reasoning with Tiny Networks
Alexia Jolicoeur-Martineau
This is an engineering exercise akin to “set it to 57,” but it is really interesting. A set of weekend kludges that has important implications. Harold wants to pursue this line to think about how integers are represented. Won the ARC prize.

@tompearce49 Thinking otherwise, uniqueness is only a problem for the abstract classification and division of types. The concept suffers no such abduction of its foundation’s categories. It is free from the deficiencies of reasoning that limit the comprehension of sensory impressions. #TheConcept #Uniqueness
