  1. One thing that bothers me is that working on personal projects with the help of AI agents to me feels like cheating in a video game.

In the past working on an idea meant to me that I had to spend a considerable amount of time writing the entire code, including the boring parts. Results were slow to come by and some ideas just felt too big to work on at all. But overall it felt like I created something I knew inside-out.

With agents in the mix this has shifted for me. Results are quicker and easier to get by and most of the time I spend is writing down the idea or a plan and reviewing code. I don't feel like I know every corner of the code I produce, but things are working and match what I intended to create. Still I don't feel as proud as I used to when something works.

Is it only me or does someone else feel this way?

  2. Hi, I'm Stephan! Proud dad of two, living in southern Austria.

By day I work on cloud services at eos, from the hardware and network underneath to the APIs people actually use.
At night I sometimes work on my personal projects.

I started using Linux around 1999 and am fond of free software.
I'm still undecided whether I like Python or Go better.

Expect posts about platform architecture, software engineering, things I build and problems I find interesting.
