Me and Kara really need to get out of Oklahoma with the results of the election, and with my inability to find work, one income just cannot get us to the point of being able to afford to move on our own. I am hoping with moving to Illinois, I will have my 3 CompTIA certs done hopefully (A+, Net+, and Sec+) and I'll be able to find some sort of work, and Kara will be able to keep working from home, doing IT support for a call center.

I'm still working on trying to raise the money I need to get to Blue Team Con in September. I'm sitting at about halfway to my goal.
Have had some personal setbacks that make hitting the goal even more necessary, to ensure I have enough to make the trip, for gas, tolls, and life necessities (such as food and beverages).

*whelp* I guess this is what I get for getting my hopes up about that automotive locksmith job. I got passed over, after 3 interviews and a ride along. This was the closest I got to getting a job in a year now, it's hard to keep trying when this just keeps happening.
This was for the automotive locksmith job that I got fantastic advice from @deviantollam, that helped me get to the final stage of the process, but couldn't get me past that.
I'm just running out of energy to keep trying in my job search. Shit, I can't even get a interview at a local fucking grocery store, let alone trying to go back to Best Buy where I was previously. Hell, the temp/staffing agencies can't even place me. We need another income, and I just don't know what to do anymore.
I'm almost certain a part of my feeling unemployable is due to being trans, in the social climate that is Oklahoma, and the politicization of my existence, but like I just can't just say that's the only hurdle. There is obviously something else wrong with me or what I'm doing, I just don't even know what else at this point.
Just feeling so defeated. I need something to come through for me.

So, I'm considering taking some risks and leaning into setting up AD and domain on my home network, with my homelab.
I'm concerned about what risks I should watch out for, and things I should keep in mind while setting it up and configuring it. My only hands on experience with setting that stuff up, was in a lab setting for one of my classes for school, and it was a very basic overview, and didn't cover the security risk side of things.
I don't really have a huge need or reason to do this, largely just curious about the setup and management of a dozen or so computers on a small network like this.
Also concerned about configuring my network shares for Android devices that exist on the network, that access the shares for media streaming as well.

So for @deviantollam and the other lock folks I know around the fediverse, I have a question. I have a last minute zoom interview for a automotive locksmith role, I'm not needing direct experience for it, but they want someone with potential. They even cover the 13 week locksmith certification course, paid.
This role just seems like it would be a good stepping stone for me, since eventually I would like to get involved in the physical security aspect of cyber/info sec.
My question is, do you all have any advice for me during the interview with the hiring manager this afternoon? Like, something I could ask that may wow them, or just some way I can phrase/position my experience in an extremely positive way for the interview?

When I leave the house, it's always for mundane purposes, like grocery shopping, buying auto parts, or going to Home Depot. So, looking for some advice. As y'all know I was officially let go from my job last week. A friend of mine is trying to help me get into their company, and gave me some advice on my resume (but explicitly said they won't actually "write it" for me). And I just need help figuring out phrasing and how to re-word things on there, since their suggestion was to rewrite my bullet points in the "star method", and my neurodivergent brain doesn't do so well in that sort of phrasing, since my current points are just factual and direct.

*sigh* tonight really could be going better for me. Headspace starting to tank, not entirely because of the job info I got today (which really sucks, but tbh, was slightly expected, and only a matter of time).
Suddenly feeling shitty about my appearance and dysphoric over it. Probably not being helped by my lack of estrogen in a year, due to doctors office dicking me around, and then my insurance getting shut off, and now no possible chance of getting back to work, and getting my insurance back.
On top of that, the permanent loss of that insurance, which also would of covered all the transition related care/surgeries I needed as well, which... was more encompassing than most insurance coverage as well. I just... *sigh* I don't know wtf to do at this point.
The weirdest part... The thing that triggered the dysphoria, was Catherine Zeta-Jones' character in Oceans Twelve (Isabel Lahiri), and like, the part that god me at first, was her outfits, but then... her nose. Her fucking nose of all god damn things!
I don't know... I'm just... maybe it's just compounding and making me feel especially worse tonight cause of everything.
