  1. continuing…
The co-op installed backup batteries a couple of months ago for virtually free ($700). There is no reason those installers should have loosened the main wires but it seems the only explanation after 20 years of no issue.

The only good thing is when the co-op disconnected us from the grid to make the repair the batteries transparently kicked in and provided power. Nothing inside noticed the loss. First real world extended test of the batteries.

  2. When I got up this morning I noticed my desk lamp was flickering periodically. Then saw all lights doing it. I couldn't find a cause so had to call the electric co-op. They showed up in 30 minutes which was impressive and were super cool. They quickly discovered the bolts holding the main wires in the meter box were both lose and it was arcing inside. A bit scary. It took about 30 minutes for them to replace the parts.

  3. The 2026 World Cup ⚽️ was great for me. I lack a super strong tie to any of the teams/countries so I simply enjoyed the matches as sporting events and there were a lot of great games.
