French garden snails are much larger than the Irish ones I am used to. This one is about the size of a golf ball. No wonder the French eat them - especially as revenge for the snails demolishing the veggie plot! Mind you, the tastiest part of "escargot" is the garlic butter! The snails themselves are quite tasteless.
