The Kettentiden-Eider project investigates the link between North Sea water levels and inland #flooding in the Eider-Treene catchment. As part of #ZukunftEider, we're using statistical and hydraulic methods to identify critical discharge conditions and develop adaptation strategies. Our mission: enhance flood management and prepare for #climate impacts #compoundfloods #extremeweather #ClimateAdaptation #hydriv #SchleswigHolstein

Excited to announce this year's #HydRiv excursion from 21 to 24 May. We will explore the current and future challenges of #water and #flood management in the German and Dutch coastal regions. Registration is now open. We look forward to an exciting excursion with you! #Knock #Afsluitdijk #Rotterdam @tubraunschweig

🌊Whoop! We expanded our #SiSchöMo with an advanced 5m (!) ultrasonic flow meter at the #Knock pumping station to measure the sluice discharge. With the new insights into coastal #hydrology, we will develop sustainable management strategies:

Measuring stations installed – research underway! 🔬
Our team has installed precipitation collectors at various altitudes in the Harz Mountains.🌧️ We are studying water isotopes to understand how rainwater seeps underground through the rock and emerges in the Ernst-August-Stollen.⛰️
The one-year measurement campaign aims to show whether these water movements can be detected.#EAGruMo #WaterResearch #Harz #Isotopes #TUBraunschweig #Hydrology

Mid-June we spent 2 days on a #Fieldtrip to the #Maade #River in #Wilhelmshaven as part of our #METAscales project
Day 1: Installed two new #SEBA gauges to track water level & conductivity—crucial in our sluice-and-pumping-station-drained catchment. 🔧 🌊 🛠️
Day 2: Gained hands-on experience with our boats & ADCP for bathymetry surveys. 🚤💧🔍

Great SOBEK workshop at the Leichtweiß Institute for Hydraulic Engineering #TU Braunschweig: Hydrotec and BfG presented their detailed Eider model, and Prof. Schröter introduced the Kettentiden Eider project. The workshop included an informative session on SOBEK 1D modeling software.
Beyond the technical program: We enjoyed visiting Brunswick's Christmas market and exploring the impressive hydraulic engineering hall! -
