welcome to the church of #emacs but make sure you have a plan of what you want emacs to do for you & do it one step at a time.

its too easy to be like a kid in a candy store

#LLMs are a distraction & he misses imo a big point.

#emacs allows you to uniquely configure it to your needs, to suit your worflow

yeah i bet the Sheldon Coopers get up to stuff.

i had decided to move my emacs to android, but google being google has made me reconsider so do i go back to debian, nixos endeavourOS or cachyOS on the new to me P15 Gen 2 #thinkpad set up for ruby & elisp tinkering

some colleagues can be right tools......

i think he's right that #emacs is perfect for scratching ones itches & that some of the results are a bit quirky, buts what wrong in that. Emacs is customisable in a way that makes YOU more productive.

  5. @kinderstampfer

tbh remembering my x280 #Thinkpad i wouldnt even think of running any photoshop/darktable/indesign type program on an intel iGPU model

you might get away with a AMD Ryzen 7 iGPU machine but your looking at a minium of 16GB RAM & a modern dGPU if your working with large files.

if my memory is correct the x280 RAM is glued in place & is thus not upgradable, it already has SSD?

  6. @codemonkeymike

Is it a special bios to enable linux?

otherwise i believe that #Thinkpad is new enough that you could have installed linux & then used fwupdmgr to install firmware from linux.
