  2. My first article for Towards Data Science!

How sharded repodata (CEP-16) makes conda and Pixi 10x faster with 90% less bandwidth on conda-forge.

Thanks to Bas Zalmstra, @dholth, and the teams at @prefix, Anaconda, and Quansight.

  3. Join Michigan Python December 11th (Thursday, 7pm ET) for my talk on Building Your First conda-forge Recipe!
We'll build a GTK code editor, discover GtkSourceView isn't on conda-forge, and package it ourselves. Learn to create recipes, build native dependencies, and contribute to conda-forge.
Cahoots Coworking, Ann Arbor + online option.
    No packaging experience needed!

  4. Last week I was in Málaga with the @conda OSS team (Anaconda + Quansight).

Aligned on vision and roadmap. Had real talk about code review anxiety and supporting each other better as a distributed team.

Sprint day highlight: shipped progress on wheels support and sharded repodata. Nothing beats building together in person.

    Excited for 2026 🚀

  5. It's Banned Books Week from Oct. 5-11! My little free library is ready.

  6. It's the first Thursday tomorrow, which means it is Michigan Python night at 7pm ET! Antonio Cavallo will be giving a talk comparing uv and micromamba!

He'll compare these two modern tools—their strengths, use cases, and when to use each. Whether you're managing pure Python environments or multi-language stacks, you'll gain practical insights for choosing the right tool. Looking forward to seeing everyone, all are welcome!

  7. 🐍✨ Ever wondered how to bring image recognition to the web? Come join us tomorrow (Thursday) at 7pm at Michigan Python!

I'll be sharing how to build a mobile image recognition app using OpenCV and PyScript using a fun Pokémon example. We'll cover:
    - Building mobile-friendly computer vision apps
    - Running Python in the browser with PyScript
    - Real-world applications of OpenCV
    - Live demo and code examples

    See you there! 🎯📱

  8. The PyScript team released the first community newsletter today! 📰🐍 You can sign up at pyscript.net

  9. I help maintain projects that use uv, PDM, and Poetry. It is really great to see with Poetry 2.0 released last week, that the pyproject.toml format from PEP621 is starting to come together across the tools for project and dependency specification.

  10. Come join us at Michigan Python tomorrow at 7pm EDT! Afranio Costa will be giving a talk about Building Multi-Platform Apps with Flet and Python. All are welcome to come learn how to use Flutter and Python together to build a simple data science oriented app with data graphs. meetup.com/michigan-python/eve
