I wrote this article a week ago as a counterpoint to rationalist beliefs that are dominant in tech. I've since learned that it also reliably pissed off other people. I can't make everyone read the whole thing and furiously agree, but I made changes to firm up the argument:

I think the most common misunderstanding was that I wrote this to argue for God or free will. Not really: it's just that I believe that (a) physicalism has issues too; and (b) many of the fun thought experiments that come out of it smell like reinventing faith.
