  4. I think the position one needs to take on AI in their hobby / profession really needs to come down to aesthetics. Either there's inherent beauty in humans doing it or there isn't. If there is, you need to sell the world on that ASAP.

    In my book, it's a doomed stance to say you can have a machine do the work, but it's a synergy in which you add "taste" or "judgment". It may work today, but it's just a signal to fine-tune for whatever you consider to be your added value until the average buyer can't tell the difference... except for price / volume, which works out in favor of AI.

  10. If you asked me why you should learn to paint, make music, write, code, or do math, my answer is the same in all cases: because it's workout for your brain. It brings joy and pays dividends in life.

    When it comes to intellectual output, we live in an era of abundance; I think there are modest benefits to having more songs, more books, more software, or more abstract math. In contrast, there's a steep price to pay if we devalue the act of creation or remove the financial incentives to use your brain.

    I have complex thoughts about AI, and I think it can do good, but we should be careful in what we celebrate.
