Climbed at the gym for the third morning in a row this week. Managed a newly set 5.9 first time on the #topRope auto-belay, then explored lateral routes in the #bouldering area.
It's amazing how quickly I relax when my mind is distracted from the daily stresses by dangling from a wall. -

Scheduled power outage for utility line work has let me test my #residentialSolar backup plan. The good news is that the transfer from on grid to #offGrid was seamless. The bad news is that all the outlets on one side of the house are a single circuit, and the fuse isn't a high enough amperage to power to portable AC units at full power. Have to see if we can upgrade the fuse.

My electricity provider has told me to expect a 4hr outage on Tuesday. It's going to be 34c with a heat index of 43c, so Hot! Sounds like a good day to test out our #residentialSolar and #batteryBackup system powering two portable AC units as well as the fridge and other essential things.

A Toco Toucan at Birdworld in Surrey
When I took the shot the angle of the sun was such that when it turned its head side-on its bill was lit from behind - as a result you can see some of the many blood vessels running through it.
In 2009 scientists reported that the toucan can use its bill for thermal regulation, it's able to radiate heat through it to cool down: https://www.science.org/content/article/bird-big-air-conditioning-bill

Squid, an #African penguin based at #Birdworld in #Farnham, #Surrey, developed #cataracts as a chick
Her friend, named Penguin, steers #Squid around their enclosure, helping when she gets disorientated at feeding time
#Polly_Bramham, from #Birdworld, said "The two developed this #friendship from a young age and she has learnt to follow him at feeding time"
