I'm the author of "The Great Ocean of Knowledge": the Influence of Travel Literature on the Work of John Locke (Brill 2010). And I'm Now writing a book with the working title Citizen of the World: the Influence of China on Early Modern Britain. It takes Oliver Goldsmith's writings as the starting point for an exploration of Chinese influence. He's underestimated and so is the extent of Chinese influence imho.
