    I still often have issues with databases, charsets and their contents, so I asked Fable to create a solution for me.

    packagist.org/packages/schnitz

    The result: A extension that detects a variety of issues:

    - latin1 in UTF-8
    - UTF-8 in latin1 aka fake latin1
    - double and triple encoded UTF-8

    There is a dry run if you only want to check your data and a filter to fix only specific table columns.

    Works for me, maybe works for you.

    MariaDB 10.4+ and MySQL 8.0.17+.

    Oh, what a great article. Exactly what my experience with AI coding is.

    It’s not just using AI and be done with in 15 minutes. It’s handing off the dirty work to „someone“ much faster and spending more time to verify the results because you cannot verify during the process of writing code any more.

    You are at first, completely detached from the product and if you don’t know the domain and how to verify the results you play the dumb, replaceable role in this game.
