I was reading about the doc. Molly vs. The Machines and checked out the site: https://mollyvsthemachines.com/about/film
It's unavailable in the U.S., but I thought I'd have a look at the screening guide or any supporting materials (as a librarian). Instead of their supporting materials, I encountered a pop-up window prompting me to prompt their "private" AI generator to make my own. Oh for FUCK'S sake.My prompt was just the following feedback that I hope someone on the back-end can and will read:
I am very disappointed that we do not have the option to download materials thoughtfully curated by an informed person. Avoiding genAI isn't just about avoiding commercial products; it's about centering human ability and human-to-human communication. I would think that the issue of depersonalizing both creator and recipient would've been self-evident in the making of this documentary.
For context, the film is about a 14yo girl who killed herself and Meta/Instagram's role in it.
