I think #upscaling of #HD content is improved, along with colors for all resolutions.
My tv has the best picture quality of any I've ever owned or lived with, and the so-called and ignorantly pejorative "#SonyTax" was worth every penny on my mid-range, sale-priced #X85J ($700, spring 2022).
With this update, provided proactively at no cost, my purchase is an even greater value, overall.
It's another example of why I recommend by default buying the best quality product one can afford.
