  1. I first visited #Turkey & #Thailand on the same trip, back in '06/'07 - for 🇹🇭, it was a few months after a #Coup.

And at that time, I would never have imagined that it would be Thailand, not Turkey, that would, 15+ years later, be on a path towards becoming more democratic and progressive.

Very (cautiously) hopeful for 🇹🇭, but unbelievably disappointed and worried for 🇹🇷

  2. Unconfirmed: Controversy on Turkish Social medias after various young voters for the Far-Right Presidential Candidate Sinan #Oğan, known for his staunch Anti-Migration, #Xenophobic and Pan-Turkist positions published voting ballot tickets with signs praising Adolf #Hitler and calling for "Total Kurdish Death"

Sinan Oğan received 5% of Turkish Presidential votes and is likely the Kingmaker of the #Turkey's elections Second Round
(I can not find a second sources for this, but it is being discussed widely on far right circles /Farhad).

  3. Haven't seen anyone (yet) point out that the two countries known for their frequent military coups both have elections that could determine the future of their democracy on the same day (May 14th).
