We just got confirmation from the Dutch Tax Authorities that the Free Knowledge Institute has acquired the so-called ANBI status: Public Benefit Organisation in Dutch!
We wanted that status so our donors can obtain tax relief. This is first of all important for Dutch residents, who can claim donations back in their income tax declaration.
But also residents in other, especially EU countries, may obtain tax benefits, as the EU tax rules stipulate equal treatment and non-discrimination in this aspect. However, paperwork might be required.
We work with interested parties to make that process easier.

My efforts to convince the government to create a stand-alone sovereign verified traveller program for Canadian airports continues! "The previous Liberal government under former prime minister Justin Trudeau set an anchor of capping the annual deficit at one per cent of GDP and maintaining a declining debt-to-GDP ratio."
"The PBO report forecasts that Ottawa will blow past those anchors in the upcoming budget."
-
"Stupefying," "shocking" and "unsustainable" -- those were just some of the words Ottawa’s fiscal watchdog used Thursday to describe his scathing forecast for federal finances ahead of a long-anticipated fall budget.

Modern motherboard firmwares (#BIOS for us oldtimers) are outright awful. Toggling a single option X on/off isn't necessarily binary. Enabling option X might enable other option Y (and maybe more) which will remain enabled even if you disable X again.
This makes it extremely difficult to do binary search on situations where some firmware option causes you trouble.
I was bit by this earlier today when I enabled AMD Precision Boost Overdrive on an AM4 system. The system would start to fail compile tasks randomly (and #Prime95 within second) when PBO was enabled. Confusingly disabling PBO did not result in a working system, but the system kept crashing. I updated the firmware to the latest version and the system became stable again. "Great, #AGESA update must've fixed the stability issue!", I naively thought. So I enabled PBO, system kept crashing, I disabled PBO, system kept crashing. Frustration ensued.
"When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth". Enabling PBO pulls some other options which cause the stability issue, and disabling PBO doesn't disable them.
Sure enough, resetting BIOS to default, then enabling everything but PBO resulted in a stable system that is able to run Prime95 for hours. While it might be possible to figure out what this "extra" option causing the instability actually is, at this stage I was happy to just have a working system. It won't touch PBO on this box ever again.

We know this is a niche meme, but we just had to make it 🤭

Modern processors with their increasingly smaller features really aren't build to last, they suffer from electron migration requiring increasingly larger core voltages over time. My #5900X is less then 4 years old and already crashes without offsetting the core voltage even with #PBO off.
This will require to rethink server maintenance for projects with long turnover.

I have finally moved from "All Cores" PBO to "Per-core" PBO on my #5950X!
Took some time to configure because issues only show up when you actually use it, but now it should be stable for this specific chip.
There will still be unexpected system reboots, but if it happens I'll figure it out.
-
Another reason why I opted for the 5700X instead of the 5800X is that I could just use AMD's Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO) and Curve Optimizer (CO) to get similar (or even higher) raw clock speeds.
Here's my 5700X OC'd to 4.82GHz. Stress-testing, I could reach 4.82 GHz single core and 4.60 all-core. Can we do 5.0GHz? We'll see.

#CTV: 'What exactly did we get?' #Alberta senator questions hundreds of millions to clean up #OrphanWells
"I asked (the #PBO) whether any of that $556 million had gone to cleaning up actual orphaned wells. And I was informed by the parliamentary budget analyst that not one single orphan well in Alberta -- not one -- had been cleaned up with this grant money," @Paulatics said Monday.

Dear @eplumley1976, thanks for your interest in hanging with #PBO, #MichelleObama and #DollyParton but *I* will be attending in your place. Apologies 😼
Srly, great list. (Now I gotta go figure out mine)

Lost my temper, slightly, at our #AGFO hearing this week. (That stands for Standing Senate Committee on #Agriculture and #Forestry. I had questions. I’m not sure I got answers. The issue? A possible reform of #EI rates in Prince Edward Island - and whether vital information was withheld from our committee. #PEI #employmentinsurance #Charlottetown #PBO #cdnpoli https://youtu.be/eCXaP0cekbg
