One thing I miss about Twitter is being able to ask a question like "Did ANZAC troops on the Western Front in WWI paint kiwi or other symbols on their Brodie helmets?" and actually get relatively regularly expert input.

Does any #NZtwit remember the name of that guy who used to post a heck of a lot on Twitter and he’s in academia, maybe worked for a CRI, sometimes wears a black hat like Terry Pratchet, uses an olde English pseudonym like Aetheylraed? We were at an eScience conference together maybe around 2009 and maybe another time at a data science retreat with Dr Mik Black and Prof Peter the partner of Helen Clark.

Here's Marley's Hill in the Port Hills of Ōtautahi-Christchurch, NZ, as seen from our house. The photo of it on fire is this morning, the other I took on Saturday.
I've been taking photos of this view every fortnight from our deck, watching how the hill has been recovering from the 2017 Port Hills fire. The clock has just been reset.
