For #laborday. I’m reading Richard E. Miller’s The Messman Chronicles in order to help me understand my father’s life at sea as a #Filipino #messman and steward, and his sometimes self-censored references (in letters home) to racial and other conflicts aboard ship. Miller's book was about Black crew, but also dealt with Filipino and other #messmen & stewards. Wrote about it in my newsletter:
