Textbooks have been my primary source for studying and learning this past year. They were a shining beacon of clarity in a world where it is becoming so hard to find reliable info. AI is untrustworthy. Search engines serve SEO garbage, and increasingly AI LLM generated articles dominate top results.
I shudder to think what the future will be like for people trying learn when LLM content starts creeping into textbook content. It's probably already happening. Coupled with the fact that libraries are under constant pressure from funding cuts, it's looking pretty bleak.
We have the seed vault in Svalbard. I think we need the same sort of thing, but for books and knowledge. Anna's Archive is probably the closest thing we have to this today.

Someone just complained to our support team because they asked ChatGPT how to download the json version of a specific chart, and ChatGPT gave them a confident description and a flawless Python script designed to do exactly that, but it returned an error message.
Because we’ve never had an API even vaguely resembling the one ChatGPT hallucinated.
