  6. I’ve lost track of @estherschindler’s post that pointed me to darrenhorrocks.co.uk/the-pitfa a great description of why @tricia and I wrote #leadwithoutblame book. If Dave’s writing resonates for you, check out leadwithoutblame.com

  7. @longreads @lkanies This…so much this. Absolutely why my attention to #AgileRetrospectives and #leadwithoutblame. Many great quotes in this article, starting with, “the primary purpose of an aircraft accident investigation is to prevent future accidents —“ #systemsthinking

  8. @ravirockks @wouterla A great example of why resilience matters. And why we need to work in ways that encourage resilience in learning and anticipating potential futures. It’s why @tricia & I wrote #leadwithoutblame book. leadwithoutblame.com

  9. @hopkinsdavid I’m not sure how *new* that is to those who have paid attention. However it does deserve recurring attention. You are correct there. It’s why @tricia and I wrote #leadwithoutblame book. HTTPS://leadwithoutblame.com

  10. @shauna @adayley The very dark sides that led @tricia and I to write #leadwithoutblame book to highlight a different way. Thanks for illuminating this history.

  11. @qrquartel Leaders can do better and help things along by focusing their efforts to creating a work environment within which teams & people will find their intrinsic motivation. There is a job to be done for leaders, just not what we often think it is. Leaders can’t force/coerce motivation. #leadwithoutblame book

  12. Podcast recorded after I delivered a keynote at the Öredev conference in November. By the end it’s clear my voice has had a double whammy workout. kodsnack.se #leadwithoutblame #leadership #FaST #resilientTeams

  13. @ronlichty Thank you for the link, Ron. In the context of #LeadWithoutBlame a few quotes stood out for me. From Ginni Rometty, “Being curious builds confidence.” And, “Growth and comfort never co-exist,” referring to confronting risks. From Ed Bastain, “Challenges keep us interested.” #LearningLeaders”. These two talk like leaders invested the their own learning and invested, encouraging,& supporting learning for others. #environmentsForLearning

  14. If you enjoy such things, most of the sessions at #oredev2023 were recorded and will be posted (YouTube maybe?) online for your delectation. Including the session & keynote I presented. #Retrospectives #LeadWithoutBlame

  15. @grimalkina It’s real and @tricia and I consider it in #LeadWithoutBlame. I’d love to see your research on it when you find the right place to publish…or consider submitting to the @agilealliance #XP2024 conference when academic submissions open! @wouterla

  21. When you feel the impulse to blame other programmers for "over-engineering" or putting too many complications in their designs, please remember:

    - Most people learn Just Enough Design by experiencing both Too Much and Too Little Design
    - How did _you_ learn how much design is Just Enough Design?

    #Lightweight #LeadWithoutBlame

  22. @jchyip That’s a situation that @tricia & I write about in #LeadWithoutBlame book. It’s partly individual inclination and mostly “system driving behavior” pressure. #orgculture

  23. @carnage4life Yes. Totally. @tricia and I include it under resilience factor: “collaborative connection” in our book, #LeadWithoutBlame; 1 of 4 resilient learning Team factors.

  24. I've watched and heard about teams struggling with the Daily Standup even to the point of horror stories.

The successes I've witnessed have all hinged on making a commitment not to blame people for sharing unpleasant news.

We can simply decide to #LeadWithoutBlame. So... why don't we? Why don't _you_? What about the system you live or work in interferes with your desire not to blame? Are you willing to share a story?

  25. I teach #tdd in part to create environments in which programmers feel safer making decisions, an ingredient of a greater feeling of autonomy.

At the same time, I help traditional architects (and others who hoard design decisions for the good of the project) feel safer to delegate some of their decision making. This becomes quite personal and intense work.

    This way, we #LeadWithoutBlame.
