I learned MS BASIC (AppleSoft, then Commodore), then a little LOGO, then I got semi-serious about learning Pascal, both Symantec THINK Pascal for the Macintosh, and Borland Turbo Pascal for DOS.
I should give #LazarusIDE a try sometime. I've always liked #Pascal's middle-of-the-road syntax between languages like C and Python.

This year's #adventofcode starts in one week. After using #zig, #rust, #crystal in the previous years, this time I decided solve the puzzles in my old friend #pascal using the #FreePascal and probably #lazaruside/#emacs. My repository and some helper utilities are ready: https://github.com/f-fr/aoc24
My personal goal is to find solutions that run fast (below 1s in total for all days) on my old RaspberryPi2. Let's see how it goes, really looking forward.
Good luck to all participants and enjoy the riddles.

I just learned of this bare metal Free Pascal + Lazarus for the RPi! Pretty cool idea.

There will be an #Pascal congress in Spain this summer!
https://pascalcongress.com
It is dedicated to modern #ObjectPascal development with #Delphi and also #FreePascal and its #LazarusIDE.Although I hadn't my hands on a Pascal project for a long time, it is great to see that there is still some activity around the programming language!
